Lincoln Station

101 North Chicago Street in Lincoln, Illinois

In 1911, the Chicago and Alton Railroad line constructed a brick Spanish Mission-style depot building in the new town of Lincoln, Illinois, named after the train line’s lawyer and future U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. In 2017, R.D. Lawrence renovated the historic passenger rail depot, owned by Amtrak, with a focus on maintaining the building’s long history and preserving its artifacts. The remodeled facility showcases restored windows, doors and the original ticket counter with a scale once used to weigh luggage. The renovation was named Project of the Year by the Illinois chapter of the American Public Works Association.
