R.D. Lawrence Construction Company Breaks Ground on Passavant Hospital Addition

Jacksonville, IL – A new same day surgery unit is under construction at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. The 21,000-square-foot addition includes two state-of-the-art operating rooms and two new endoscopic rooms.

“This is the beginning of a long-term plan to enhance the facilities and services here at Passavant, said John Goetz, president of RD Lawrence Construction Company. “RD Lawrence is delighted to be a partner in this effort that will undoubtedly be a great addition to the Jacksonville community.”

The project will cost $6.5 million and be completed in November 2005. It is the second major project being constructed as part of a $15-18 million comprehensive expansion plan being undertaken at Passavant. The first phase was a $2.1 million laboratory remodeling project currently under construction and scheduled to be completed in October 2005.

Both projects are being managed as a Design/Build projects. All design and construction services are being provided by the RD Lawrence team that also includes BLDD Architects (Decatur) and KJWW Engineering Consultants (Rock Island).

RD Lawrence has been involved in construction in Jacksonville for nearly 45 years and has built facilities for Nestle, Farmers State Bank, the YMCA, the School for the Deaf, the US Postal Service, the School for the Blind, McMurray College, Illinois College, Jacksonville City Hall, Kraft and Mobile Chemical.
